This corner will introduce to its readers bondage and SM techniques that are unique to Japan.The explanations that follow are arranged according to each of the various subdivisions in the field. Selected styles are introduced and demonstrated on a regular basis. As with many other oriental art forms, there are certain basis styles(kata that need to be masterd when leaning nawa shibari. Combining and arranging these styles in different ways will allow you to produce a variety of tying forms. Proper mastery of these basis styles is essential. This is especially true when one considers the fact that nawa shibari is an art form that requires a high degree of proficiency and experience for safe execution. It is not a pastime that should be taken up and tried on a casual basis!

Bondage techniques by Mai Randa
The teacher who will instruct us in the finer points of nawa shibari is Master Mai Randa, who appeared in the second edition of KIKKOU report. Mai Randa's tying techniques are simple and free of unnessary embellishments. The techniques that he will demonstrate are practical, and designed in mind so that they can be used by practitioners of all levels- beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
